Legal Disclaimers

Interpreters are professionals. Their qualifications, certification and/or accreditation are conferred by recognized educational institutions, professional associations and government bodies. Interpreters abide by a professional code of ethics and, in the case of malpractice, are subject to disciplinary actions by the professional associations to which they belong.

Interpretation Solutions (I.S.) performs due diligence in verifying interpreters' claims to interpretation-related qualifications, certification and accreditation. Coupled with reference checks, we make sure that we are offering you service from a screened pool of qualified professionals.

We also use our best judgment to select an interpreter that we deem to be a good match for a client's requested job, in terms of language ability, industry knowledge, specialization, experience in the specific type of assignment, and any required certification / accreditation. To facilitate our assignment of an appropriate interpreter for your specific job, we stress the importance of your providing us with all relevant information and requirements at the time of booking, from subject matter to speaker accents. The interpreter, however, is ultimately responsible for his/her competence and performance.

In the unlikely event that errors occur during the interpretation, I.S. bears no liability for any loss or damage resulting directly or indirectly from such miscommunication. Should the client or third parties suffer any loss or damage directly or indirectly due to misunderstanding of messages, missed information, lost opportunities, decision making, judgment, actions or outcomes that ensue from the error in interpretation, I.S. is not responsible for corrective or restorative actions, or compensation of loss or damages suffered by the client or any affected third parties.

If a booked interpreter is unable to, or not required to perform or complete his/her duties due to unforeseen circumstances that are not the client's fault, (e.g. interpreter falls sick, court hearing is adjourned early...etc.), I.S. may, depending on the circumstances and based on its discretion, elect to give client a refund or credit for unused service, but will assume no responsibility for any loss or damage resulting directly or indirectly from the cancellation or early termination of interpretation services.
