What We Do - Interpretation
Interpretation Solutions (I.S.) provides professional
multilingual interpretation services, primarily between English
and non-English speaking parties.
We offer the following interpretation services to corporate
and individual clients:
On-Site Interpretation
We offer on-site interpretation services covering the whole
of Ontario. Our conference interpreters can meet you and your client(s)
face-to-face in a business office, a conference centre, a hospital,
a lawyer's office, a courtroom or any other pre-arranged location.
Most of our interpreters are located in the urban areas, so
availability is higher in those areas.
Over-the-Phone
Interpretation
Our interpreters can participate in conference calls between
two or more parties, over the phone or in the context of net
meetings. Where required, we can also relay your messages to
your clients over the phone in the target language. Over-the-phone
interpretation services are offered throughout Canada and the United States.
If the conference interpreter is required to attend a video conference
or phone conference at client-specified facilities, this will
count as on-site service.
Consecutive Interpretation
In consecutive interpretation, the interpreter first listens to the message in the source language before interpreting it in the target language, doing so when the speaker pauses. This form of consecutive interpretation is more often used for one-on-one or small group conversations, examples being interviews, business negotiations, witness testimonies, medical consultations and telephone conversations.Simultaneous Interpretation
In simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter delivers the message in the target language as quickly as he/she can formulate it from the source language, while the speaker continues to speak. The interpreter speaks at the same time as the speaker (usually through electronic equipment). Simultaneous interpretation is more often used for large conferences, speeches, or sometimes during legal proceedings.Simultaneous interpretation is also used in what is referred to as whispering interpretation. In a forum where one language is the main medium of communication for most participants, an interpreter would sit beside the person(s) requiring interpretation and whispers simultaneously as the speech / presentation / discussion takes place.
