Legal Translation Service for Personal / FamilyDocuments used for legal purposes in Canada are required to be in one of the official languages - English or French. If you possess original documents issued by a foreign country and need them for immigration / citizenship application, employment, education, execution of financial arrangements, divorce, litigation or other legal purposes, these documents need to be translated.
Global Translation and Writing Services, a sister-company of Ontario Interpretation Services, provides professional services for translation of personal legal documents:
| Personal Identification
Education and Employment
Alternatively, you may receive or have your lawyer prepare a legal document in English for official purposes. If you are not familiar with legal terminology in the English language, we can translate the contents into your native language for your better understanding.
We will select legal translators who have experience with the type of legal document on hand to work on your assignment.
Certified and Notarized TranslationIf your documents are required by government agencies, educational institutions, professional associations, employers, or the court, and the original documents are not in the official languages, the likelihood is that you will be required to submit certified or notarized translations, or both.
Global offers both certified translation and notarized translations. When requesting service, please specify if you require certified translation, notarized translation, or both. Remember also to advise us of your official English name.
Certified TranslationOur certified translators have passed standardized examinations or certification and are members in good standing with recognized translator associations such as the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO). They vouchsafe for their quality by a signed statement attesting accuracy and with association issued stamp applied.
Notarized TranslationNotarization of a translated document involves a sworn affidavit by the translator before a Notary Public who affixes his/her seal to the translated document. The affidavit contains the translator's credentials and the translator's declaration that the translated document is a true and exact translation of the source documents.
If you require Global's assistance in arranging for notarized translations, please provide us with your original document or a certified true copy of it.
Recognizing that translation of personal legal documents often contain sensitive personal information, Global requires all of its translators to sign confidentiality agreements to protect client information.
Certified True Copies - If you require certified true copies of passport, landing papers or other legal documents, we can assist you in arranging for such certification by a Notary Public.
